Absolute single-turn encoder
An absolute encoder assigns a unique position value to each location. Depending on the application, it can provide information about position, rotational angle, or speed. In single-turn encoders, resolution refers to the number of distinct steps per revolution. Multi-turn encoders, in addition, can determine the number of revolutions.
