With the new 2.5 Gbit/s network interface, the camera can transmit additional data streams, including 3D profiles at rates up to 69 kHz.

The high-speed interface can also combine 3D data with reflection and scattering data at speeds of up to 46 kHz.

Surface+: More Than Just Eye-Candy
Surface+ is a new patented technology that provides an extra image dimension, making even very small scratches on smooth surfaces clearly visible.The technology can also be used for gloss measurements on surfaces, for example to detect color or coating defects.

In most industries, standard applications for surface inspection usually require both 3D and 2D data. 3D data is used to measure dimensions and detect indentations and similar irregularities, while 2D data is used to detect small scratches and gloss defects that are visible under certain lighting conditions.

With SICK's new Surface+ technology, only one camera is needed for both tasks.In a single image acquisition, several 2D and 3D images can be acquired.Moreover, the 2D and 3D data are even aligned along the same coordinate system.

This enables Surface+ to be used in a wide range of applications in the consumer goods, automotive and electronics industries as well as in the processing of wood, metal and steel.

Surface+ is included in the scope of delivery of the Ranger3 and Ruler3000 and is used in conjunction with Surface+ alignment to complement high quality 3D data.
